The first thought that came to mind when introduced to the science station folks is just how they can't really stand each other. You can tell tempers are frail, too much time together has become a deterrent, boredom being stuck at the station is obvious, activities available have become tiresome, predictable days and nights the norm, and hope for change seemingly desired. Then the alien menace emerges into camp changing their lives forever.
