I was re-evaluating The VVitch and noticed something subtle
and startling. It is slight and quick so focus intently on the book Satan wants
the lead to take. About the 79 minute mark you see the first leg of Black
Phillip as he is walking past the book he wishes Thomison to write her name in,
and the second leg is a “human” boot…in about one second, a transition is
complete, and Satan offers Thomison fleshly pleasures. The natural lighting
gives you a faint facial form of Satan, but interestingly you never see him
completely. And the voice just breaking a whisper, pointed and curious as Satan
provokes Thomison to join his coven. All the family are gone, no one left to accuse
Thomison, frame her, or charge her. Satan offers her “the world”.
