I'm of those who believes this could be looked at as close to a kid's movie. You have the pet pterodactyl and cater-puppy, hi-jinx with a crystal skull, rooms that serve as portals to other dimensions (with a neanderthal trying to take the skull, interrupting a Halloween party and then Gramps gets the skull taken from him by a tribe of Aztec warriors!), and an undead gun-slinging adventurer who opposes Gramps named Slim wanting *his* skull (the duel between Gramps and Slim is over who found the skull), with an actual walking corpse horse that even bucks! There are some adult themes that would perhaps go over the kiddos, but still, all in all, I think this is close to a family fantasy. It doesn't have any serious bone in its body.
