A Discovery of Witches - The Evolution of The Witch

This is the sixth "chapter" of the series... So I have names to go with “Knox’s ‘personal witch’” and “Matthew’s relative”. Satu, somewhat aligning with Gerbert (we see that it doesn’t go well), can fly. Knox cannot. So Satu is the one who grabs Diana and dumps her in the middle of castle ruins (La Pierre) not too far from Ysabeau and Matthew’s ancestral home (Marthe, Ysabeau’s sister, and Ysabeau discuss how witches that fly cannot go too far before having to land), with Gerbert wanting her for himself once she’s done. Satu wants to know Diana’s “secrets”, to see just how powerful she is. Diana’s power at that point is still largely dormant and still harnessed due to her life of inactivity. So Satu can use her magic to lift Diana off the ground, turning her upside down. While upside down, Diana (trying just to withstand the suffering that soon follows) tries to tell Satu that there are no secrets to pursue. Using her spellcasting, Satu “brands” Diana, burning a m

A Discovery of Witches - The Romance Heats Up While the Creatures Plot

The expected full embrace, romantic and eventually sexual, was obvious, and in the fifth episode of A Discovery of Witches Matthew and Diana finally set aside the preventions of The Covenant in favor of love. Diana aunts warn her against it as does Matthew’s mother, Yasbeau, to both of them. Yasbeau goes even further by showing Diana the vampire hunting methods. Matthew arrives at his lab, realizing that Gillian, Diana’s friend (and witch), through her left-behind scent, has taken blood samples and pictures on her phone. Matthew finds her and uses the bite to the throat in order to see what she did when intruding into his lab. Near-dead, Gillian does make it to Peter Knox. The Congregation is in turmoil, Matthew’s own kin representing the De Clermonts, pledging to secure the person of Diana in order to restore hospitalities within the species. But the series clearly advises that the three species “hiding in plain sight” are at odds even as they emerge with representatives at The Co

iZombie - Five, Six, Seven, Ate!

Gulliver and Nancy were poisoned with cyanide (in the ole protein shake), and why were these two such victims? Well, it seems they are were part of a dancing competition where the victors get a ticket out of Seattle. So guess who gets to eat of Nancy’s brains and investigate her demise? Liv, of course. Ravi will reluctantly join her “undercover” as replacements for Gulliver and Nancy. Ravi, nervously, has to navigate his way around not being able to dance while Liv tries to improvise for both of them. Dance competition winner hopefuls, Lars and Tina, seem to be the most likely to benefit from the absence of Gulliver and Nancy. Tensions continue to rise as an incident at school (teachers investigating children for “zombie lice”) brings Fillmore-Graves officers to address teachers (when the teachers go to Peyton, Dolly is mentioned on accident with the principal shushing her, indicating Dolly has infiltrated the minds of a lot of humans now) for searching out children that might

iZombie - Dead Lift

“Dead Lift” sure places Major (Commander of Fillmore-Graves after Chase’s “exit”) in a significant predicament. Mostly instigated by Dolly Durkins, who orchestrated a hoax on a gas station video recording which depicted a human woman attacked by zombies (the car later found, with syrup and a wig found in the hidden lowrider car), how does Major and Peyton (with help from Clive and Liv investigating) try and prove it? Including a drive-by shooting at a “warmbodies” bar (inclusive only for humans, with no zombies allowed, the watering hole quite different than Blaine’s club), soon discovered by Major to be two of his own Fillmore-Graves officers (pro-Chase, anti-Major, very vocal in their disregard for the current boss’ “softness”), the hits just keep coming. You sure can feel for Peyton, trying to keep the city from apocalypse, and Major, needing to corral his officers. It is not an easy task to keep the peace for either one of them. Liv meant for Major to have the brains of a f
