Werewolf - Let Us Prey

Let Us Prey continues to follow Eric Cord who is hunting Skorzeny while trying to stay one step ahead of bounty hunter, Alamo Joe. Eric finds a monastery in a western part of the country, looking for a place to crash for some decent rest and a bit of grub. The brothers in their brown robes are “practicing priests”, while Eric befriends one of them, the chatty and friendly Brother Stanley (David Crowley). There seems to be a “mountain lion” attacking folks in the general area, but Eric realizes this could very well be Skorzeny. But when he asks, none of them in the monastery offer any information. They consider their place a sanctuary, a place of refuge for those of the outside world, not willing to judge them. Soon Eric will discover that one among the brothers is a werewolf…actually turned by Skorzeny. I liked Let Us Prey a great deal due to its locale and atmosphere. Where Eric goes often determines how interesting the plot for that particular episode will be. This

Eerie, Indiana - The Retainer

Since your teeth refuse to behave, I have designed for you something verrrrrry special. Come on…TO THE POUND. You don’t suppose it’s…MR. DITHERS! Well, this episode of Eerie, Indiana, certainly had me laughing out loud on several occasions. I think already you could see the show was in full control of how to tell its wonderfully weird stories. Vincent Schiavelli has one significant scene and a smaller scene at the end but he absolutely leaves an impression (as he always did, may he rest in peace) as the creepy dentist who has perfected a rather over-the-top retainer that takes up half the face (it is quite an outrageous contraption) of a kid named Steve (Patrick LaBrecque). While eating this big hoagie, Steve is hanging out in the yard of Marshall, with Simon also visiting, when he actually hears a dog’s thoughts concerning hunger for meat from the sandwich! It turns out Steve’s retainer can read the thoughts of canines, allowing him to hear what their minds pr

Todd & the Book of Pure Evil - The Student Body

Leslie (Hilary Carroll) just wants a friend. Sitting at the lunchroom table, people purposely avoid her. When she goes to simply start a conversation with cheerleader, Wanda, she’s immediately rejected with scorn. When a kid in the school sits at her table, not with any real purpose but just because it was the nearest available, Leslie gets a bit too clingy with her desire for immediate friendship and he flees. So the Book of Pure Evil capitalizes on her desire for friendship and when her hand grips another, that person becomes her mind-controlled pal. The touch of the hand creates this symbiotic flesh that draws in all who come in contact with Leslie’s “connective bond”. Soon the halls are walked by Leslie and her “band” of happy-go-lucky newfound buds, with the likes of Jenny, Curtis, Hannah, and even Atticus “joining the fold”. Todd, meanwhile, is all contemplative and reflective on how dangerous he is towards everyone, considered to be the potential Pure Evil One. Even smoki

The Vampire Diaries - Blood Brothers / Isobel

My family is nearing the end of the first season of The Vampire Diaries and it is getting really interesting as Katherine’s ghost haunts the show through and through. Her involvement, even if not physically being in Mystic Falls, is ubiquitous in that the tips of the tongues of so many characters mention her or they remember her or pine for her. She seems to have such tentacles that extend from near and far. The wife of Alaric Saltzman, Isobel (Mia Kirshner), is an agent-of-sorts for Katherine, in Mystic Falls to make sure John Gilbert, “an old boyfriend”, secures a “vampire weapon” that resembles a pocket watch, made by his inventor ancestor. John is working in concert with Isobel because the weapon will supposedly kill off the “tomb vampires” released along with Pearl. Pearl had the weapon, gave it to Damon, and meets with John about the transaction at the Grille. The Grille is quite the hotspot for big encounters and conversations that define major plot developments. Iso
