Sunday Night Cult TV

I have a new Sunday line-up starting tonight which begins with an episode of Eerie, Indiana (1991-1992), followed by Werewolf (1987-1988) and The Hitchhiker(1983-1987; 1989-1991). I haven’t sat down to watch Eerie, Indiana in God knows how long. Before my uncle had died, actually (right around 2009, I guess), he encouraged me to revisit the show. He had taken old VHS recordings from NBC (he actually had the shows recorded from the very night they aired, kept them in a cabinet) moving them to DVD. I found them on YouTube, though, so there were formats available to watch the show. Admittedly, I was not as BIG a fan as my uncle was of the show, but its oddness and style left an indelible impression. It is quite the cult series. Too bad it was short-lived. Many of these shows had a niche audience, but they just were a bit too off-the-wall for mainstream tastes. Still I think there’s a built in cult audience just waiting to find this odd little show and give it a chance. Many will feel rewarded, I imagine. Now to find that old Wes Craven show, Nightmare Cafe (1992)...
