Society (1989) / First Impressions
They told me to prepare yourself for that ending. They said it was Screaming Mad George turned loose by Brian Yuzna to go crazy with the slimy orgy melding shunting body horror effects and, in that regard, the guy didn't disappoint. The satire on the rich eating the poor instead of *eat the rich* wasn't lost on me. A very wealthy, very powerful Beverly Hills society of beings later called by Billy Warlock, appropriately, alien scum, drag into their parties to "absorb" humans often just for kicks and giggles, and for their own sick pleasure. Billy realizes he's not like his parents and sister, and feels gross around them as it seemed clear there were something potentially sexually deviant going on. He couldn't have imagined how much more was indeed going on. Always considering those privileged folks in LA and thereabouts a weird lot certainly involved in their fair share of orgies and kinky activities, Yuzna, his screenplay based on those in that rich world, and Screaming Mad George -- with his talents to develop stretching bodies as transformations into perverse and wacky mutations are commonplace in the film -- definitely go for broke. Billy Warlock really sees this society for who and what they are....and will need help from allies to escape the clutches of these creatures looking to absorb him.
