1981 - Favorite Films

This one was tough. Debating where to put Just Before Dawn and the order of the slasher films was a struggle. To me, they could be interchangeable, since I like them all about the same. And at any given point or time I could shuffle them around. 1981 was one of the hardest lists I put together because I truly believe that tomorrow I could move some of these films around like chess pieces on a board. The first four was difficult because I love them all just about equally. I think 1981 could be one of the greatest years in the history of the horror genre. But especially in terms of volume of slasher films. One film I didn't add because I just didn't see it as a horror film, as it is my pick for the best exploitation film, in Ferrera's Ms. 45. It is iconic, and I think as a film about a woman exploding out of a traumatic experience, it is epic. But not quite horror to me. Again, the genre always has these little debates. What one fan considers a horror film, I might not. I'm still debating on Fulci's House by the Cemetery...I can't determine if I even like it, though, it really sinks its teeth in, and fails to make any fucking sense to me.
