1983 - Favorite Films

This year was a real surprise, actually. 1984, yes, is the year that really seems to be considered the go-to year for 80s horror while 1980 and 1981 seem to be highly recognized as the slasher years of significance. But 1983 is the quintessential year of Stephen King adaptations. He sure was all over the horror genre in 1983 and the very best quality films with his name seem to be in this very year. But 1983 is also the year of David Cronenberg as two of his most established and highly regarded films are in this specific year. This is a gem year. This year could be so widely rearranged according to each horror fan. I imagine The Hunger or even Jess Franco's "return to form" with Macumba sexual could possibly headline a certain kind of horror fan's 1983 list.
