1980 - Favorite Films

 So I have the 40s prepared for the coming days, and I want to drop the 1980s as well. So I'll start with 1980. I do think plenty of top ratings for the 80s are so totally different from mine. I do think, for instance, Maniac will much, much higher. I realize The Changeling will not be #1 on very many lists. I totally get that The Shining will be #1 on a whole lot of lists. But I need to be honest that I just love The Changeling, and what Kubrick did to Duvall to get the film he wanted was so cruel over the years I've questioned that decision to treat her so horribly. In fact, I almost moved The Fog to #2. I think the film that probably would surprise many whose own 1980 favorite films list is The Ninth Configuration. I bet Friday the 13th fans, particularly, will be throttled by how far down it is. That is what I love about the horror genre. Certain films perhaps aren't as significant to some horror fans as they are to others. Plenty consider Cannibal Holocaust top tier for 1980. I totally get that. The film is controversial and topical. I have to rate these films as how they impact me personally.
