iZombie - The Hurt Stalker **

The crux of Liv’s dilemma is that she isn’t aware of Major’s duties for Max Rager…that he is killing the zombies. Her and Blaine’s investigation into who is killing off the zombies, how that ties in to Max Rager and his assistant, Gilda (still roomies with in-the-dark, Liv), and Clive and Bozzio’s interest in Suzuki’s demise work as a second season concurrent story arc.

Liv all paranoid (the texts on Major’s phone, Ravi’s shampoo) is hilarious…McIver, no surprise, hits yet another home run in how she performs it. Her eyes all concerned, the worry in her voice, the interrogative tone…and then investigating Major’s phone she locates his ties to Rita (particularly their sex sharing texts), the roommate she doesn’t realize is actually an employee for Max Rager. The Super Max experiment at Max Rager’s headquarters, conducting tests on zombies, to see how humans will react in order to move it eventually to market is the seasonal story arc as well. So all the principles are either knowingly or inadvertently involved.

Gilda desires Major and wants Liv out of his life so she can plant seeds of doubt and jealousy in order to try and break them up. With Liv on “stalker brain” what better time than this for “Rita” to feed the paranoia. Liv going through Facebook posts directed at “her man” certainly gives us a look into how obsessive Regina was, particularly with her use of “slut” and “whore” so effortlessly without pause.

Max Rager decides to be guinea pig for the Super Max and it gives him the “juice” he needs to lift weights with less resistance as Major serves as his trainer. Will Major take a snort of the “juice” himself? Hilariously, Rager “roid rages” at an employee just because he was grunting while intensely lifting his own weights.

But the personality does push Liv to investigate Major’s phone further, as Gilda’s texts to him, including a particular lingerie set, truly breaks her heart. The series always had these soap opera roadblocks that would test the resolve of Major and Liv. Plenty of times I would bemoan the cycle of “will they get back together and if they do will they just break up again?” melodrama this show kept returning to with Liv and Major, but it continued all the way to the end.
