Lost - Homecoming*

Lost is all in bits and pieces as I have cobbled together thoughts on another show I'll be writing about as well [The Girlfriend Experience]. So "Homecoming" is very well choreographed. I don't give the show enough props for how well photographed it is. The camera really follows a lot of action in the woods and invests up close with the characters. A lot of ground is covered and the whole episode is edited for maximizing pace.

The character of Ethan has been absent since kidnapping Claire, and it was a given that he'd show back up when she does at the end of the previous episode. He told Jack he'd kill him if any action was taken to keep Claire from him and whoever he is associated with. Ethan does indeed return and threatens Charlie. Charlie has been reeling from his near-death experience at the hands of Ethan who appears to be incredibly strong. He had gotten over on Jack previously when he successfully kidnapped Claire. So Jack owed him one. Homecoming is an exciting episode. It has good suspense with Ethan taking out Jin-Soo with a thrown device and lifting a helpless Charlie off his feet with a chokehold. Like Jack, Charlie owed Ethan one.

My friend who loves this show with all his heart and is responsible for why I started watching it despises Jack. Jack reminds me of those prowrestlers who get all the backing of Creative, where you just know that if someone got one over on him he'd be protected in a way where he's allowed to return the favor with proper retaliation. Jack gets to pound Ethan's face real good. Ethan has a leather chin that can sure take a licking. But to Jack's credit he gets even to the point that Ethan is more than a bit overwhelmed. Oh but he still gets to his feet...until Charlie puts an emptied mag in him. Charlie had other reasons to blow Ethan away. He had to prove he could be responsible and protective, counted on and depended upon in times of need and/or crises.*

*That's the beauty of this show. Charlie's past is further elaborated. During his dark period into drug addiction, he had met a business owner's daughter, urged by a thief friend to steal items from her home so he can continue getting smack. A relapse while trying out a copier sales gig for the girl goes awry, revealing the item he stole, found in his pocket while in the hospital.
