Lost - Exodus*
Rousseau emerges from the jungle with her rifle with a
warning: be prepared as the “others” are coming. And a major revelation that
certainly startled me and explains a lot about why Rousseau has such trauma:
her baby was taken from her after birth on the island! She tells the camp they
three choices: run, hide, or die. I love how Rousseau is used on the show. She’s sparingly added to the show as a jolt out of the norm. The camp goes about
their lives but forget of the possibility (Locke has said this) that there are
other people on this island. There is a lot the survivors of the plane crash
have to deal with daily since landing on the island so another problem sure isn’t
desired. But Rousseau is the example of how it can all go to hell and those
from the plane crash must see that trauma all over her as a word of warning:
this can be you if you don’t heed what she says. Claire holding the baby and
how Furlan conveys that trauma is just an outstanding piece of acting. It is
right there on her face and the concern for Claire is similar. And that lasting
question that must still be asked: how did Claire escape the others once
kidnapped? That hasn’t been addressed yet. “Exodus” has other plot points to
consider, too, and does so. The raft-boat getting into the water, and how Jack
wrestles the folks together to help get it completed and off the sand shows the
sense of urgency at hand. And the hatch to some sort of underground structure
is focused on for one obvious reason: it very well could be a means of refuge
from the others for the camp not riding on Michael’s raft-boat.
