Teen Wolf - The Tell
In the beginnings of any series going long term there are
episodes that feed info about its characters to us. We see sides to characters
that say a lot about them that perhaps even those close to them aren’t aware
of. Kate, the sister of Chris and aunt of Allison, reveals this dark side that
perfectly conveys the werewolf hunter’s delight in seeing her quarry weakened
and vulnerable. Derek has been led to believe his sister was killed by the
Argents and their hunting team. Kate, and two hunters tagging along to get
knocked for a loom immediately, invades the burnt skeletal remains of the Hale
home. Kate lovingly antagonizes Derek, equipped with a 900,000 volt stick (and
secretly a machine gun) that allows her to take advantage when he strikes after
her. Then she lays in on him with her news on his sister…killed by the Alpha.
Derek narrowly escapes the machine gun when Kate realizes he doesn’t know who
the Alpha is. Imagine if he had called out Scott to Kate!
The show has gone all out with the ooey gooey teenage love
between Allison (and that gorgeous smile) and Scott, the two sharing those
smitten gazes along with plenty of kissy-face. Yep, I’m waiting for the guillotine
to drop its blade on their love…oh, yeah, it is coming. It is Allison’s
birthday (she’s 17) and Scott urges her to ditch school with him on the day
where afterward awaits parent / teacher conference. Good day to skip your
classes, right? Certainly you had to know the parents would be quite upset with
them, but the kids still had a great time with each other. Scott is worried
about his Cs in the likes of Chemistry while Derek grows increasingly annoyed
with his brushing off training as the Full Moon draws near and the inevitable
confrontation with the Alpha approaches.
While perusing the aisles of a rental movie store, Jackson
encounters the dead body of the employee inside and the Alpha pushed shelves on
top of him, underpinning the teenager to the floor. The scratch by Derek (when
he was infected with the magic bullet poison) seems to intervene on Jackson’s
behalf when the Alpha hovers over him. Meanwhile, Lydia is in her car waiting
on him. The Alpha bursts through the store window and past her car. Jackson
spends the rest of the episode incredibly intense and ready to burst
(essentially what he always looks like) while Lydia stays home, drugged out of
her gourd. Stiles bothers by to see if she’s okay considering Lydia didn’t go
to school. Jackson, though, is visited by Derek in the locker room, still
shaken although he’s tried to refrain from showing any weakness. Derek tells
him he should get his scratched checked on. We learn that Jackson is adopted
while Lydia seems to be a Straight-A’s student even if she goes for the It-girl,
considered more for the looks and mouth than brains.
Stiles hangs out with his dad during the night of the rental
store murder, with pops telling his teacher that the mother is deceased. That’s
all we’ll know for the time being. Stiles’ first name isn’t Stiles. He’s a bit
distracted by matters concerning werewolvery. He notices the werewolf on Lydia’s
phone, deciding to delete its picture. Scott and Allison’s “retreat” has texts
going out and not answered. Stiles even wants to know if Jackson’s buddy finds
him attractive!
Even Scott’s mom reveals that the father out of the picture
is purposely avoided. I reckon that will be a development certain to pop in and
stay awhile later in the series. Scott’s teacher’s tone with her about the
missing male authority figure in his life definitely irks her. It is kind of a
challenge to her methods of raising him. His being distracted by a challenging
teenage period is kind of complicated! Allison and the werewolf problem have
kind of competed for his attention!
Oh and Allison has this necklace given to her by Kate as a
present that ties to her family…it could very well nudge her towards a destiny
of hunting a particular kind of animal. The soap opera jazzed up MTV all nice
and proper will soon ferociously devour the glow beaming all bright and shiny
off of the romance blooming between Scott and Allison. It is the cursed bite.
It is the trip into the woods, curiosity and Stiles drawing Scott into those
woods, with the Alpha detouring his path towards a future he was unprepared
for.
The name of the episode derives from Scott informing Allison her "tell" is a movement of an eyebrow (how he can notice her not telling the truth). She keeps hinting at the possibilities of sex which I think is most amusing. She gives that little naughty smile I also find quite cute...when she eggs him on about being willing to give her virginity to him.
A veterinarian acting strange when approached by Stiles' dad regarding some peculiar photos of the Alpha, a dangerous animal loose on school grounds, and Scott seeing Allison's dad in action. Much more to come.
