Now Apocalypse - Where Is My Mind?
Well, not that I wasn’t expecting it, but Araki’s second
episode of his one season on Starz of “Now Apocalypse” is loaded with young
adult sex, developments from each coupling offering revelations. Carly has lots
of sex toys in her closet stemming from her web cam career (she has plenty of
money to pay for her and Uly’s meal while discussing reptile alien conspiracies
much to her dismay and objection) and her actor beau is curious (the dildo
lands across his face!), agreeing to a spanking that actually results in some
great sex once he “cries out”! Uly is still pondering the experience from the
previous end of that first episode, with the reptile alien rimming some guy in
the alley. He gets a security job where he can sit inside a guard shack and
talk to Carly. Carly is in her acting class witnessing a painfully performed “birthing”
scene, startled by her coach in the bathroom in what felt like a complimentary
flirtation. The oblivious Ford has no clue that the producer “loving” his
script (about robots and vampires) seems more interested in him while Sev
decides she wants to see him fucking her friend (who returns from an Antifa
protest!) as a turn-on for her. While Uly isn’t even getting a handjob this
episode, his friends sure are active! Henry Rollins of Black Flagg has a cameo
as a popular alien conspiracy nut who claims Obama and Beyonce are reptile
aliens! Uly looks him up after “awakening” in the middle of a street after
seeing what he thought was the back alley reptile alien rape. Carly,
rightfully, questions if this whole “experience” is but the effects of good
dope. But this episode, titled “Where is My Mind?”, seems to showcase Ford
specifically, enjoying spaghetti at the producer’s party after a film premiere
when he meets an actor he’s a fan of, not reading the signs of desire as others
more lucid to the visual cues. Sev, his “girlfriend”, does enjoy his body and
physical “structure” while her friend allows Ford to tell her he loves her
which seems to charge up the sex…he does that a lot to Sev, not getting but a
cold response of, “I know”. Sev is quite an elusive character, cold, clinical,
analytical. Ford is always keeping himself in shape, seen exercising in
different ways when he isn’t eating or fucking. Uly worries about him, as he
complains to Carly about how naïve he is, considering he’s new in town, easy
prey. And Carly, bored with her man’s spiritual kick, is surprised with what
her paddling (she’s “upset” about his phone concerns while unexcitedly
penetrating her from a behind position) does for their sex life afterwards. Her
aggressive side and his sensitive side seem converge with positive results! And
as the episode concludes, Uly arrives at a car with a surprise. Whatever cosmic
“disturbance” occurred the night he was handjobbing with Gabriel, perhaps it is
surfacing….2.5/5
