iZombie - Reflections of the Way Liv Used to Be
One of the best, if not the best, episodes of the second season, this has good continuity (Liv was still on the stripper brain and Major is given remainder of the positivity brain of the murdered coffee shop owner from previous episodes), Blaine's amnesia taps into serious issues his horrible past anguishes his current blank slate (Don E and heavy thug, Chief, have taken over the brain dealing/smuggling operation, not only keeping him out of the loop but ordering him to stay out of their way), Vaughn Du Clark keeps his daughter (now a zombie) in a cell while preparing joyfully the launch of Super Max complete with advertising promo, Major "volunteers" Du Clark to be a guinea pig for Ravi's second developing cure to see if Blaine is faking his amnesia by planning to scratch him as to turn him zombie, the case regarding a murdered nominee for a Seattle college state presidency who is very ordered and has an organization obsessions and was selling Adderall and "Lucky U" to students reveals ties to Narco Undercover operating outside the scope of the law, and Liv's dedication to finding Drake (having learned he was working Undercover within Boss's organized crime operation) continues. Also included is Major informing Ravi about being the Chaos "Kidnapper", what he's forced to do for Du Clark in order to keep Liv alive, while the pooch he was taking care of ultimately is his undoing as a pet groomer arrives to talk with FBI agent, Bozzio, about him. Major returning to zombie form allows for some laughs when his positivity brain provides motivational speeches and nuggets of wisdom, as well as, giving him perky, upbeat attitude. Blaine's dilemma allows for Du Clark to take chief villain honors until his memory recovers...it indeed is a fresh change of pace seeing him morally struggling and actually having a conscious, truly signifying just how his upbringing led to the monster he'd become. Just what he did to Major, brought up in a long list by Ravi and Major gives us a reminder of how evil he could be. Colantoni has a rising part of importance with each passing episode as the Undercover hoping to keep his work from interference by Clive, who is too by-the-book for his liking...he tricks Liv using her love for Drake and tickling her ego proclaiming she's going places. The case concerning the murdered student involves a register cashier of a student cafe and how this links to Chief and Don E further synchronizes the entire episode, like a carefully knitted framework. Quite impressive. 5/5
