Hellraiser - Such Sights
I was watching Hellraiser (1987) one night a couple days ago and once Frank opens the box, I had forgotten about the brief "visit" to Hell where the turning column with the chains, hooks, and bloody red meat continues while the Cenobites move about. This is where Barker gives you a glimpse into the horrors that await the viewer, such as when Chatterbox "assembles" the separated pieces of Frank's face, including the memorable eyes, the kind of eyes that have seen something quite horrible and unprepared for.
I noticed the momentary appearance of Pinhead as he is about to pick up the Lament Configuration Puzzlebox and close it, having supposedly adopted Frank "into the fold". Frank, of course, had other plans.
I was struck by how visceral and striking this small scene is, as Barker wants us to have that peak into Hell, sort of letting us know just why Frank might "want out".
