So on Roku TV this month, they have 13 Nights of Elvira (2014), and her final feature film was my second favorite horror film, Night of the Living Dead (1968). Elvira introduces it, pops in and out of the film with a zinger or campy (clever) remark, and bookends with a music number. I love Cassandra Peterson with all my heart and her Elvira character has always been such a cheesy charmer. The films on Shudder Elvira had for her anniversary special -- I really hope that isn't it, because I think she has plenty left if she so chose to continue in the character -- were already viewed by me not too long ago, though I did watch some of Messiah of Evil (1973) that night. I still want to see her contributions to these films. I loved the boob cake, too, so that was well worth spending hours with her...if I needed any excuse.
I was just goofing off with my camera, wanting to take a snapshot or two. It's late, so I added these before bedtime...that is if my insomnia will let me even nod off and fade into the void.
To this day, I'm amazed at how everything escalates and falls apart seemingly so quickly in "Night of the Living Dead" when the truck goes up in the explosion. Ben and Mr. Cooper were a powder keg, sure, but once that truck goes BOOM!!! the downward spiral accelerated. And with all the attempts to reinforce the windows and doors, Ben's argument for not being captive in the cellar appeared to be incorrect and, even if he was a belligerent asshole, Cooper being right is hard to digest.
