The X Files - 3 **
I remember "3" being the episode that got me back into X Files after a considerable absence when it was on a late Sunday night on the NBC Universal Directv channel, Chiller. Chiller would show X Files on Sundays for an evening block way into the early morning. I love it when boredom encourages a channel surf that leads to a reinvigorated interest of a beloved show. Prior to this, I remember returning to X Files while in college. I have those phases where I get back into the old favorites. Anyway, "3", to me, is such a nocturnal X Files late night episode. Vampires in LA with no Scully at all. Mulder gets completely away from DC, aliens, and the Cigarette-Smoking Man. This has always been very much a late night watch because it was more alluring, fetishizing the drinking of blood, spending some time at a club with nocturnal folks with similar interests.
I noticed that Duchovny and Perrey Reaves (Kristen) were dating during this period. You could sure see the magnetic chemistry. I get why fellow X Files fans would reject that. But the guy needed some sweet loving. He was hurting. This was one of those episodes certain to get lost, especially considering after this we were about to venture into some dark terrain with Mulder and Scully in the next episode, "One Breath". Mulder and Kristen sure had a lot of sexual energy between them. You could really see it, especially at a table in "Club Tepes". The episode itself, I recall actually watching this during its initial release back in 1994. If I'm not mistaken, this ran on a different night, too, besides just its Sunday night slot. I just seem to remember seeing it much later at night. That has been some time back, though.
I just took a few snips from my television while watching the episode on HULU. I have been watching my DVD sets until tonight. But the quality transfer (while at the beginning before clearing up was sketchy) was really fetch so I was happy.
