The sideways off-island continues to surprise me, including it's additional information about Jack having an estranged piano protegy son he sees in a recital and Sayid contemplating helping his brother (married to the love of his life in a plot twist) by ridding him of debt thugs demanding interest for loans made to open a store. These correspond with on island stories regarding Jacob calling for Hurley to take Jack to a lighthouse and Sayid being banished from the temple due to his resurrection by ways other than the healing pool. Claire overcome by evil polluting her soul to Sayid recognizing that he's only alive because it seems darkness awakened him. Jack smashing up the mirrors on the lighthouse when he realizes Jacob has always been watching them, Jacob assuring Hurley that their trip wasn't wasted, Sayid given a special knife to kill The Man in Black by Dogen, Claire helping to stitch Jin's bear trap wounded leg and burying an ax into one of Dogen's men afterward, MiB preying on vulnerabilities such as Claire's search for Aaron and Sawyer's painful loss of Juliet, Jacob's search for a successor and MiB's search for a way off the island; the final season continues to build towards a major climax, as The Substitute, Lighthouse & Sundown weave intricate stories for the main cast on and off the island.
4th of July 2025 Marathoning
McDowell and Comi prepare to leave for Mars. Aliens visiting the UN, dropping off their cook book, providing goodies for humans on Earth, easing them into trusting them, spiriting them away to be food for them on their home planet. To Serve Man is nearly 60 years ago. I've been watching Twilight Zone since I was a teenager in the mid 90s thanks to Sci Fi Channel. Many of my family have passed since (for instance, my mother's siblings are all about gone except one last sister), and it wouldn't be right to avoid a marathon during the 4th if just for nostalgic reasons. Syfy didn't see the value of TZ on Independence Day, except last year, so even though I cannot watch episodes like I do during New Year's Eve and Day, it is nice to try and sneak in a block of episodes whenever possible. I started with Death Ship from the fourth season, continuing with Stopover in a Quiet Town and The Gift . To Serve Man would feel like a later afternoon watch but SYFY showed it at 3:...
