Some years ago AMC had a late night chiller theatre show called, "Fear Friday" which featured House (1986) and it's sequel which I revisited Sunday afternoon, House II (1987). Funny that Wiley's fantasy could be looked at as a film that haunts your sleep. It just isn't. However I do remember thinking it was a fun popcorn-and-beer (or in my case, poptarts-and-vitamin-water) flick made seemingly for a wider audience. The "caterpuppy" and steak-chops-loving small pterodactyl are indeed quite kid-friendly. The gunfight between Arye Gross and the rotted walking corpse nemesis of his Mummy "gramps" is also less bloodthirsty and closer to its PG-13 rating. This really isn't a horror film at all. I think those who haven't seen this will be expecting something closer to the William Katt film than what Wiley offers...two distinctively different films, both with quite unusual houses.

Promos for Fear Friday.
