My daughter, Jaws, and Me
Okay, as a father I fulfilled an obligation of sorts when asked by my daughter to watch the Jaws franchise with her. The first film, of course, was an easy watch. And she just loved it. Parts 3 and 4, she didn't mind too much, while for me, I tolerated them. Part 2 was much easier to stomach, quite a fun time. So I thought I had completed a challenge successfully. Then she looked over at me and asked if we could rewatch the franchise July 4th weekend. 😬
I did notice something: not only is the Halloween franchise a multiverse. Parts 3 and 4 are not related, both extending from the second film. Quaid and Putch as Michael and Sean in Part 3, Guest and Anderson as Michael and Sean in The Revenge are in completely different stories. I personally feel the third and fourth films are pretty much on the same level, featuring some aspects I like and a lot of issues that really separate them quite a bit from the first two Jaws films.
But watching them with my daughter was a joy, and I will remember this time with her.
