Twilight Zone Marathon On Pointe - Friday Night Lineup
Here in my neck of the woods, the usual suspects starts at 5:30 PM, since it's Central Standard Time. SYFY probably has put these together quite a few times in past years. Still, I can't fault SYFY for this particular line-up.
*I did a separate blog post for "Martian", but as I went through "Pool" and "Sun", I realized just how this was one hell of a lineup for SYFY. The quality and star power and impact of these stories (and their twists) never seem to dull.
This was quite a neat run of fantastic episodes. I finished up at about 11:40PM. Unfortunately, "What's in the Box?" was on after I wrapped up this incredible lineup and the immediate domestic abuse which included a wife being punched in the face and out a window left me so disgusted I appreciate what came before it all the more.
Now on the edits and obnoxious and invasive commercials. The death of a major character in "The Midnight Sun" cannot be overstated. I think this episode is one of the very best the series ever produced. To cut a single scene is bad enough, but the negligence of cutting a serious death scene where a major character collapses to the floor from heat stroke can't be forgiven. I appreciate SYFY for the marathon experience. And a community of folks (I followed Twitter #TwilightZoneMarathon today and it was fun) dedicated to the marathon is especially fruitful. But the episodes being mauled of seriously important content (some of Erich's behavior towards the doll in "The Living Doll" is cut) by SYFY is just egregious.
