SYFY TZ Marathon - The Trouble with Templeton

 I do really like Aherne as the aging Templeton, yearning for the youth of yesteryear while frowning upon the current state of his life and career, missing the happiness of when he was once in love with Laura (Pippa Scott), who died at 25. It is so cool to see such a young Sydney Pollack, using an awkward Southern accent for whatever reason, as a newly assigned theater director bossing around Aherne, pretty much emasculating him for his lateness in front of the remaining cast/crew/moneybags of the show...he's this empowered whipper snapper thrusting Aherne's Templeton into a mid-life crises further, sending him packing to 1927 where Laura, who is brash, divisive, obnoxious, and seemingly purposely antagonistic, is alive but different than the person he once remembered. Even his buddy, Barney (Charles Carlson), seems to be childish and wild, with Laura, the two just want to avoid much conversation with Templeton and instead chomp down on their speakeasy meal, down some booze, and shimmy on the dance floor. Later Templeton, who eventually scurries off outraged and flummoxed, realizes when he finds a script that details what Laura and Barney are supposed to say that they treated him the way they did so he would return to where he belongs and not live in the past but the present. The
