The X-Files - Kitten **

I guess with my follow-up viewing and review (last written in March) of Kitten, besides the insight into what drives Skinner to locate a previous soldier he befriended in Vietnam (an ear wrapped in a newspaper from Mud Lick leaving a clue to his potential whereabouts which leads Mulder and Scully towards his direction when he disappears from the Bureau, without explanation of why he's missing), it is the frustrating murkiness that ruins night sequences (I am at a loss as to why those involved in the eleventh season decided to darken the screen so much viewers have a hard time making out the action going on) which left me disengaged from it. It does feature a good closing scene between Skinner and Mulder and Scully. Kersh, a long-time adversary of Mulder and Scully, relied on them to locate Skinner, actually questioning their "naivete" when they are seriously unaware of his whereabouts. Kersh accuses them of Skinner never moving up the FBI success ladder because of his support of Mulder and Scully. So they ask if that is true once coming to his aid when the son of his friend from Nam (dead up a tree from a hunting trap) attempts to burn him alive inside a pit he set up to trap game (and humans if need-be). Davey (Osment) holds Skinner responsible for his father's 30 years in Glazebrook, a facility for those succumbing to a controlling gas (and vets under severe mental problem from past wars and PTSD). Davey accuses the government of currently using the gas to control folks, and the final image indicates that. Those in the war, currently residing in Mud Lick, find teeth falling out, a byproduct of the gas' lasting effects. Davey falling prey to a bamboo needle trap meant for either Skinner or game is ironic obviously. But Mulder and Scully more or less are investigators while this is Skinner's (and Davey's) story. They have often been involved in Skinner's story, and vice versa.

Mulder and his juices (and noticing how sleek and clean Skinner's apartment is), along with a crack about potential Skinner constipation break from the intense plot.
