Hope is Jessica's driving force. The death of the parents, Hope without the ability to stop Kilgrave's "virus", and Jessica wracked with torment because she couldn't stop it from happening; Kilgrave wants to capitalize on that by securing his father. Kilgrave's driving force appears to be the parents that experimented on him (looking to find what causes his "virus" and how to find immunity of it). Jessica can have Hope free from jail the next morning if she turns over Albert, the scientist father currently working on a cure of the virus, as Trish remains close by communicating back and forth with an increasingly anxious Jessica. Kilgrave wants Albert, Jessica wants Hope to have a life not behind bars, and this exchange could alter how to stop Kilgrave if he gets what (who) he wants. The first season consistently positioned Jessica against obstacles that sent her right back to the bottle over and over. It isn't hard to understand why considering the results of Kilgrave's actions over and over. He even finds colorfully expressions in their dialogue to mock the body count, reminding Jessica of how she's tied to each victim. Albert being just one more to add to that list, Jessica once again left to contemplate the next steps burdening her. The show's first season was critically acclaimed for a reason.
