Nothing ever much good comes in the basement
The film was based on a Korean horror film, which further works as an irritant for those who criticise Aja for choosing projects based on others' material. It opens him up to immediate scrutiny.

A son and wife nearly drowning. Cop struggling with the bottle. Multiple personality case revealed to host a demonic Legion looking to be reacquainted with their former host. A view of our world from the other side of the mirror. A husband doing whatever it takes to save his family. The investing why innocent folks are dying and how to cease the terror. Aja is competent enough to stylize the film effectively with enough pizzazz to make Mirrors (2008) watchable. I remember seeing the film in the theater on a Saturday noon-ish, with few in attendance. It had little fanfare. Aja burst on the scene like a fucking rocket with Haute Tension, and something like Mirrors is accepted with such little [if any] regard, it is a telling fall. He rebounded with..☺Piranha
