I was thinking about sinking my teeth into this Anchor Bay Fright Pack, a set I picked up off of Deep Discount DVD back near 2004, certainly for a price that was more than reasonable (I believe this was a free set when I purchased the Anchor Bay Dawn of the Dead set; the site had a buy one set, get one free promotional deal at the time). I have watched every movie in this set in the past except, for some reason I can't explain, Dead Heat, a horror comedy featuring comedian Joe Piscopo and Treat Williams (with an appearance by Vincent Price). I'm wondering when I should fit this in to my viewing schedule as I'm limited to one, maybe two movies a day, if I'm lucky, right now.
My reviews for this blog take some time because I don't half-ass on here like I have a tendency to do when dropping user reviews for Internet Movie Database. Feeling compelled to add pics and my own little tidbits further takes time, so developing a series for this set will be a nice little challenge. With the October Challenge coming up, I'm not sure I will be able to free up time for it next month, either.
The movies in the set include:
City of the Living Dead (Gates of Hell)
The House by the Cemetery
Nightmare City
Let Sleeping Corpses Lie (Living Dead at Manchester's Morgue)
Dead Heat
&
Hell of the Living Dead
Each film has a cult following, in particular, and inexplicably, Hell of the Living Dead, directed by trash extraordinaire, Bruno Mattei. I dread Hell because I found it to be horrible, but the very reasons I cringe bring heralded joy to Mattei's faithful fans.
