Watching Halloween II (1981) with my daughter Monday evening was just perfect, because this was her first official viewing of it (she is 18). She told me a few months ago the next time I watched Halloween II that we would watch it together. I want to say this was the one Halloween film she hadn't watched. I'm not sure why, really. Just the same Shudder has LOADED their streaming service with a bunch of classic films for their "halfway to Halloween" gimmick. I thought to myself: Halloween II belongs on Shudder. They really are like peanut butter and jelly. There were particular scenes she really responded to, such as the early neighborhood scenes with Michael stalking about. When he kills the teenage girl in her home. The death of Ben Tramer, and just how many times Loomis shoots Michael. The hammer to the security guard's skull. But, especially, Jamie Lee Curtis fleeing from Michael, with her remarks of "John sure knows how to make music, dad" making me smile with a big shit-eating grin. I really hope Halloween II remains on Shudder for the foreseeable future, but I do believe II and III won't be available as long as the first, fourth, and fifth have been, considering the Universal connection. I do hope Darcy finally gets to experience Halloween III (1982) during a Joe Bob Briggs special...he owes it to her. And Tom has already told Joe Bob and ass whoopin' is coming if he doesn't!
4th of July 2025 Marathoning
McDowell and Comi prepare to leave for Mars. Aliens visiting the UN, dropping off their cook book, providing goodies for humans on Earth, easing them into trusting them, spiriting them away to be food for them on their home planet. To Serve Man is nearly 60 years ago. I've been watching Twilight Zone since I was a teenager in the mid 90s thanks to Sci Fi Channel. Many of my family have passed since (for instance, my mother's siblings are all about gone except one last sister), and it wouldn't be right to avoid a marathon during the 4th if just for nostalgic reasons. Syfy didn't see the value of TZ on Independence Day, except last year, so even though I cannot watch episodes like I do during New Year's Eve and Day, it is nice to try and sneak in a block of episodes whenever possible. I started with Death Ship from the fourth season, continuing with Stopover in a Quiet Town and The Gift . To Serve Man would feel like a later afternoon watch but SYFY showed it at 3:...
