Current Top Ten Favorite Horror Films/Carnival of Souls on Shudder
Carnival of Souls (1962) is on Shudder right after I turned to Elvira's 40th Anniversary Celebration film Messiah of Evil (1973), so I was like, "What the hell, why not?"
I plan to revisit the two films above for my October Halloween Diary 2021 "blurbs". As of now, I can't even hear the film due to having my box fan on blast, but Carnival of Souls can be quite a film to have in the background even if the memorable organ score is lost within the noise. Shudder, though, has a really rough-looking quality print. I noticed two days ago that the film will be featured on Turner Classic Movies, and I do believe they show the Criterion Collection version. I recall a few years ago watching Carnival of Souls on TCM Underground late into the morning and it was damned effective. But I've also watched a bad print on YouTube that could be just as effective. Those who remember the early-to-mid 2000s know all about the film's distribution on many DVDS, popping up in all sort of Family Dollars and Dollar stores, not to mention, other supermarkets and such with the likes of "Night of the Living Dead" and "Dementia 13".
As of September 26th, at 1:27 in the morning:
- Psycho (1960)
- Night of the Living Dead (1968)
- Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
- Dracula (1931
- Suspiria (1977)
- Carnival of Souls (1962)
- Black Sabbath (1963)
- The Whip and the Body (1963)
- Frankenstein (1931)
- The Lodger (1944)
