Dark Shadows - The Battle Lines Drawn
Carolyn vows to get into the locked room in the basement that just might hold the answers as to what McGuire might have against Elizabeth while Roger assumes after a conversation with his sister about long overdue divorce proceedings and potential marriage to somebody else that she plans to marry Jason. McGuire traipses around the house like a Lord of the Collinwood estate already so Roger is quite sure if he can help himself to the home, cannery business, and accoutrements that come with Collins wealth then marriage is almost probable since Elizabeth won't stop him. Carolyn even confronts Elizabeth about the key to the basement room, planning to break into it if necessary. McGuire claims he might convince Liz to give over the key, as Carolyn in no certain terms throws down the gauntlet about getting him out of their lives one way or another. McGuire, still quite sure he'll be successful in getting his marriage, doesn't seem too concerned about Carolyn's warnings. Victoria is in the episode to take some part in the McGuire, basement, marriage, Liz divorce conversation with worried Carolyn and annoyed Roger. Roger is always forthright in his unpleasant opinions of McGuire to his sister, to others, and especially to Jason himself. Mentioned briefly is the local terror women feel since Maggie went missing, as Roger tells Elizabeth about their female employees staying home. McGuire is as obnoxiously sure of his situation as ever, gloating pretty much about what he has over Elizabeth as she clearly feels trapped in an existential quagmire. 2.5/5
*Episode 246
*Elizabeth remains a stuck character, seemingly always at the mercy of her murder of Paul Stoddard, and this secret has impressively carried over through 246 episodes. It's certainly a prolonged, protracted storyline that defines the soap opera as long term plotting is a formula that you do often see. But at some point there has to be a payoff.
