American Horror Story: Apocalypse - Sojourn

Why was Miriam Mead a “fuckin’ robot”? Well, “Sojourn” assists in getting us there. Getting us some answers. So in this episode, Michael is now without his mentors and his “mother”. He challenges his “father”, Satan, to tell him what he must do. Cordelia offers “the light” but Michael vows to bring hell upon her and all those she loves. So there’s that.

I think those who love this episode will enjoy all the Church of Satan and Satanism shtick. Murphy and Falchuk appear to be enjoying themselves with all the focus on the members of this church embracing decadence, sin, avarice, and the darkness. Brad Pitt and Ryan Reynolds are mentioned as fuck toys provided to those loyal to Satan. Satan “blesses” those that dedicate their lives to him and sin. Oh, and human sacrifice black mass rituals. Sandra Bernhard fans will get a kick out of her Church of Satan minister, particularly when she challenges her church to bring up really noteworthy “sin” that is bad enough to summon the Antichrist. Two human sacrifices offered for the latest black mass include a “doctor without borders” and social worker devoted to the poor and hungry...

Harriet Sansom Harris—I know her from the X-Files episode, “Eve”—as devoted Satanist, Madelyn, makes sure to hook Michael up with two robotic coke-snorting geniuses with mop haircuts named Mutt and Jeff (yuk-yuk), played by Eichner and Peters, in order to recreate a robotic form of Mead with synthetic realistic skin. Clad in black with the perfect design and a brain that will recognize Michael, Mead “awakens” with a smile just for him. ** / ****

*There is even a hallucination sequence where Michael is in the "Satan Circle", willing to remain until he gets answers from his father, including a guy with angel wings, a black goat he jerks the horns from its head with sprayed blood, Mead on a bed beckoning him, and a little girl offering him treats. Visions to get him to move from his place of protest.
