AHS: 1984 - "Nurse Rita"

This is why 1984 is just firing on all cylinders. The swerve regarding the supposed summer camp nurse, and how poor Brooke never saw that horse tranquilizer to the neck coming is why this new season of American Horror Story can't be just thrown under the scrutiny of "cliches abound" as Murphy and Falchuk continue to introduce off the wall developments and twists despite 80s stereotypes and tropes galore. And just how Mr. Jingles was inspired to break from the institution and who is responsible--a psychologist who got information out of all the serial killers, she brags--including chloroforming the real Nurse Rita so she can be at camp in the name of science (this particularly amused me). Poor Rita doesn't fair well against Mr. Jingles. Neither does a bunch of clowns pretending to be Mr. Jingles. Chet falling into a punji pit, impaled on a spike as Ray fills him on a fraternity hazing disaster that involved the death of a potential pledge (not falling down the stairs but Ray actually driving him off a cliff in a car crash!!!). Hilariously, if you think Mr. Jingles spared the asthmatic geek who was just glad to be part of the gang of clowns pretending to be Jingles, then you give that guy wayyyyyy too much credit. When aerobics extraordinaire, Trevor, sends the Jingles pretender into the punji pit, the real Mr Jingles is off chopping cowardly Ray's head off when it appeared Ray was just about out of Camp Redwood...and considering this episode revealed Ray to be such a twerp, good riddance. And then Montana smooches with Ramirez in yet another twist (don't ever look away or take a piss because something else is coming at you on this show!) and wonders why "you haven't killed her yet" just further takes us down into the rabbit hole...a place I'm digging to be!
