Reclaiming Paige
To me one of the best stories in WWE not only lately but for the year is the return to prominence for Paige. I'm astonished WWE didn't just give up on her and leave her for dead. Her dysfunctional relationship with Alberto El Patron, struggles as a result of the leaked sex involving her, the bouts with staying "sport clean", and inundated with injuries; it's a wonder WWE didn't just call it quits and write her off. But they saw value and didn't abandon her, it seems. Whatever the case, Paige clawed her way back and has taken this opportunity with full vigor. Absolution as a trio is still a work in progress, as Mandy Rose and Sonya DeVille will need to develop and learn under Paige's tutelage, but the potential is clear. But their victims--Mickie James, Bailey, Sasha Banks, and Alisha Fox--are a mixed bag. I'm not sure any of them can get some shine from feuding with Absolution. The clear real target of their takeover agenda would be Alexa Bliss but babyfacing Lil Miss doesn't seem like the right thing to do considering her snarling entitled brat character is so well suited for a long heel run. I guess those on WWE Creative might feel Paige doesn't need the belt, and Alexa could be reclusive and dodge defending it. Asuka should perhaps be far away from Paige and Absolution right now, you'd think, but Creative keeps teasing it. Just the same, Paige's involvement throughout the women's division on Raw is really cool considering where she had been compared to now. But she is having WWE realize that there can be a return on investment. To me, she's the sexiest performer on the roster, while also ring savvy, charismatic, and more than capable of cutting a promo for herself and the cause of Absolution whenever called upon. If she can prove to be reliable and continue producing as she has, only positive outcomes can result. What a great story of perseverance just the same.
If she continues to show that confidence and bravado, her heel faction will only benefit even more. And if she sustains her push and holds on to the commitment of her boss then WWE Raw will certainly be "her house".
