Angelique
Angelique's celebration of sorts. |
“Must I alone bear the fruit of this cursed family tree?”
I was appreciative of the decision to keep the rivalry
between Angelique and Barnabas intact (well, somewhat). That was an importance
in how the show became such a benchmark during the height of its popularity.
Barnabas cursed vampirism an act of sorcery on her part, because he could not
love her as he did another, Josette. In the film she goes after the fishing
business and is successful. Because she couldn’t have Barnabas’ heart, she
would soon have him buried alive and cursed Josette with having to suicide off
of Widow’s Hill. So, Barnabas is “rescued” thanks to construction workers he
soon feeds from. A new family of Collins awaits and Barnabas forges a
partnership with Elizabeth Collins Stoddard. Barnabas intends to return his
family to prominence and wage war with “Angie” over the fishing business.
Eventually, of course, the war will be at Collinwood, a mansion engulfed in
flames. Angelique’s fate is an interesting one, a body that shatters like
porcelain.
