Ju-on 2
From Koyoko to Tomoko.

A pregnancy

During a scene where Kayoko is acting in a horror film, one of the extras is caught in a grip of trance-like terror after seeing something.

Before the film goes into a different story involving another character named Tomoko, we see that Toshio has a particular interest in Kayoko's mother.

The script for the new horror movie involves the grudge curse of the first Ju-on film and so those involved in the shoot are in for a bit of a jolt.

Tomoko "hears sounds" and while she may not recognize it, there's a figure hanging in her home. She is also infected.

I can only imagine as I sit through the movie that people will be screaming at the screen, “Please something happen!!!!” Shimizu isn’t the kind of director that worries about pace, about quick beats. But, you know, I often see that in the Japanese horror movies especially, there’s a willingness to allow the plot to unfold gradually without worrying about getting to the scares quickly; quantity of jump scares is what really plagues a great deal of these PG-13 horrors today. The need to hit us with sound amplified and special effects, that no longer creep because the CGI is so apparent, is quite the rage and has been for years now.

Structurally, Shimizu opts to tell multi-character stories involving the grudge curse. Kayako and Toshio aren’t just confined to one person. They “infect” many. The whole point is that the curse extends to all who have come in contact with it. Kyoko’s mother, for instance. Another character is also infected…Tomoka. Setting up “title cards” with names of the characters mostly involved with the grudge curse set up anthology style segments indicating that the story will not be limited to such one lead character but the infection spreads to others.
