Remember the old 80s HBO series, The Hitchhiker?
I watched one a few minutes ago (before going to bed due to work today, boo!), actually directed by Paul Verhoeven, starring Peter Coyote as a first-time director trying to get a decent performance out of a star actress hired for her tits not acting ability, needing his final scene of the film to "be hot". The no-name actress in the role of Leda is really the featured star of the episode as Coyote appears here and there mainly as a director, once a struggling actor, trying to cope with a demanding--one-time lawyer--producer expecting monetary success not high art. The very first scene had Leda performing sweating sex with a dull hunk so I knew this was a HBO series, haha. Anyway, Leda begins seeing art imitating life as the killer in a blank white mask, with a switchblade knife, in an apartment across the street, whispering in a phone call that he's watching her, and soon her performances *get better* (that is if you believe the actress portraying Leda does improve). She will turn the tables on the one responsible for tormenting her and the conclusion is in one of those wonderfully 80s New Wave bars where the patrons wear ridiculous costumes as if it were Halloween night.
