A breather.

I had been dropping blog entries at warp speed, haha, so I took a much needed chill pill for today. I'm kind of thinking Fright Night remake to see if it is as flat and soulless as projected. I'm sure it is, but I try to go in with little expectation. I have been wanting to sit down to watch Paranormal Activity 2. I watched the first PA in a small theater. You know those multiplexes that drops certain films into the shittiest theater in the building when movies are on their last legs? That's where I watched PA, the original. Not too long ago, I watched the third film. All of these hand-held documentary type of horror movies in the vein of Blair Witch, I really dug Lake Mungo. I recently acquired it and remember being pleasantly surprised during the festival of After Dark films that came to dvd that year when Lake Mungo gave me the chills and gripped me for its entirety. It was flat rejected by many of my imdb horror board peers, but my wife got so creeped out while we were watching it she had to look away, eventually leaving the room! Now that is an endorsement. Back to Fright Night. I don't expect anything. If I am entertained at all I will be in for a shock because it isn't highly regarded at all. I come from that period in the 80s where I was a child watching Fright Night and The Lost Boys, Monster Squad and Return of the Living Dead, digging every last one of them, rewatching them on VHS over and over ad nauseum. So the idea of a remake left me rather jaded. That said, I give movies a chance to prove me wrong, or just provide something to take away from the experience. We'll see.

  1. So what was the verdict on Fright Night? I kind of liked it, myself, but some of that is a shirtless David Tennant in black leather pants. Your mileage may vary.

  2. Haha, I haven't had a chance to watch it but will be shortly. Life got in the way. I have read that Tennant steals his scenes...not a surprise to me, actually.
