Dark Shadows - The Search for Maggie Evans|Josette's Room

With Maggie gone, Sam is damn near a basket case, Joe hunts Eagle’s Hill Cemetery turning up nothing, and Burke wonders if Willie might know where she is…Burke remembering that Victoria was sure Willie called her on the phone when led to believe Maggie was at the cemetery. So Joe and Burke go over to The Old House to locate Willie, with Barnabas telling them that he sent Willie into town to get some needed items, expected back the next evening. Barnabas, of course, throws them off the right scent, assuring Burke and Joe that Willie was with him when the reported phone call to Victoria took place. 

The first half of the episode is covering the basic setup of the past several episodes…Maggie is missing, not well, and those looking for her and worried about her welfare kvetch agonizingly about her disappearance. The second half reveals that Maggie is in another room at The Old House, Barnabas concealing her until Joe and Burke left. Prior to this you get Maggie walking almost trance-like to The Old House, most certainly at the will and control of Barnabas. Later, once in Josette’s Room, Barnabas reveals that Maggie will assume the identity of his one true great love…Barnabas also shows her a wedding dress and desires to have her carry out the vampire transition meant for Josette, robbed of her suicide, intending for Maggie to replace that tragedy. So the episode lays the groundwork of Barnabas planned blood wedding and plans for a fresh vampire bride while those that love Maggie hope to find her. Can they find and rescue Maggie from any marriage she has no control over or will Barnabas replace her as his new Josette? 3/5
