The Nightmare Before Christmas - Classic Christmas Archive
Just watched this beloved seasonal favorite last night. I still don't know when to watch this one. I'm more than likely watching it in October in 2020.

Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloweentown, is bored with scaring folks and wants something more. So he finds the gateway to Christmastown and notices lovely things such as snow, joy, cheer, lights, toys, and Santa Claus. Jack wants to take Santa's place and enlists Halloweentown residents to put together presents, a costume, reindeer, and toys for the citizens of Christmastown. But Jack learns that his good intentions don't necessarily include positive results. A NIGHTMARE BEFORE Christmas has the distinction of having the ability to be shown/viewed in either Halloween or Christmas. This is where the heights of stop motion animation had reached. Danny Elfman's lyrics, music, and vocals enhance the fairy tale atmosphere which accompanies the imaginative creations in the Nightmare world of Tim Burton and company, homaging classic Gothic characters such as ghosts and ghouls, a werewolf, Frankenstein mad scientist, vampires, bugs, bats, even a devil. The Halloween atmosphere(the distinct images of jack-o-lanterns, castles, tombstones, etc)is a visual dynamo I'm sure will thrill viewers who embrace this holiday with all their hearts for many years to come. In Halloweentown fans of monster movies and creature features, longing for songs vocalized by those very "things which go bump in the night" is something to admire and enjoy to the fullest. The animation is exhilarating and breathtaking, while also being skin-crawling and spine-tingling. You have a mayor with two very different faces, a rag doll stitched together by a creator who wishes for her to stay at home(and who is in love with Jack), three mischievous trick-or-treating kids with malicious intent, and a cheerfully evil Oogie Boogie who lives to fright and eat(and is essentially a bag made of various creepy crawlies). Simply put, A NIGHTMARE BEFORE Christmas is an energetic romp worth experiencing time and again.
