On my radio at the house, there's a station that has something called "flush the format" where the usual ways of operating the show are put to the side. I kind of wanted to do that with this blog from time to time. I never considered myself to be some expert reviewer but this blog has that sort of "here's the review" format to it. Others excel at this format, but I have noticed this trend on some other blogs and websites which are trying to freshen things up, too, from time to time.
Sometimes we all have to kind of shake up the way we format our writings on the internet. That is why I kind of like to do essays and such to keep things from going stale. I don't have the same kind of style and writing finesse as many of my peers, but I do try to offer a perspective that is my own (although you obviously see influences of the Southern kind creep in in my writing style; it is what it is).
There are certain movies that I like to really dig in deep to. I have this way of looking at the horror genre (among other genres that might pop up here) and how each film might appeal to those who might pass by here. How these films appeal to me and why. How as a teenager growing up, having access to a VCR, and being able to watch movies thanks to my mom and uncle led to loving such a wide variety of films. That sort of love should seep into each blog post I write. If not, and you can't sense that passion for the genre in my writing, I should call it quits. Because it isn't like I'm getting paid for this.
