Hidden Treasures (2013)

Basically Hidden Treasures is a flesh-fest for Michelle Maylene banging the male cast (though, it must be said that Sadie Katz lands two of the male cast members) while looking for gems left in her dead father’s estate. Whether or not Maylene is responsible for her pops’ murder means very little to her seducing every man with dick that enters her orbit. The audacious, brazen behavior of Maylene and the “taken” guys with other girlfriends (Katz & Alyssa Branch) not long after the ladies’ backs are turned in open rooms where discovery could be evident at any time is laughable. Yet again, these movies get guys and gals in rooms to fuck. That is expected in softcore…sex is the draw, as are those in the cast getting busy. Besides Maylene, with her Mediterranean looks, petite body, and tropical island tan, Katz provides plenty of flesh for the eyes and libido to enjoy. Sadie, though, plays a far different character than Maylene. Sadie is meek, timid, and soft-spoken. Unlike the maneating Maylene, Katz typically has men desiring her and making the forward advance for some lovin’. Sadie’s the blond babe with LA tan, but her demeanor and personality within the character make it easy for Maylene to devour the screen. Maylene is always the one approaching the guys in her old man’s home with an intent to get some pleasure and maintain her spell on them. Eventually one of her former lovers (the second of her conquests) is able to withstand her spell and leave the residence with Branch (who seems none the wiser about her man’s sexual encounter with Maylene), while Sadie’s beau remains smitten (he, for a bit, does seem to keep from revealing his yearnings still alive inside for Maylene from Katz), defensive (for Maylene, indicating there’s still something there between the two of them), and unable to free himself from Maylene’s lustful grasp.

The sex scenes, the bread and butter of softcore movies, were kind of formulaic and repetitively staged. Maylene instigates the sex, allows each male to remove her panties and shirt until she’s eventually naked, receiving cunnilingus at the beginning and then dutifully taking fake dick in various positions (on the lap, held with one leg bent while the other allows her to somewhat stand, and from behind). While the male companions change, Maylene’s sex with them pretty much follows the same pattern. I think the scene that aroused me the most was a Katz receiving cunnilingus from her boyfriend, naked under her towel as it falls and is pulled away, totally overjoyed by the pleasure of it all. I liked it because it doesn’t look as staged and inauthentic as you might typically see in softcore movies. You get a few angles and it lasts longer than the usual ten seconds. I personally prefer cunnilingus (preferably between women) to the basic bump and grind you get from the same set ups that manipulate actual penetration and contact (the sock on the--and carefully--hidden penis), as well as, male oral gratification. I don’t need to see penetration and penis, to tell you the truth, as hardcore does provide plenty of that if someone so desires to see that sort of thing. Some look carefully and obsessively for real activity within the faux set ups of softcore sex scenes, but performance is performance.

I just want to see the performers effectively convince me of the scenes they’re acting in. Monique Parent is one of my favorites in that regard. I like the Katz cunnilingus scene in this fashion mainly because she sells the pleasure so well, allowing her partner in the lovemaking to place his face and mouth appropriately while her expressions and movements tell us that he is expertly performing to her satisfaction. Obviously he means very little to me as admittedly my attention is totally on Katz. You can substitute any guy in the actor’s place and I would still be focused completely on her. I do wish Katz and Maylene had worked a scene together…if anything, it would have been interesting to see the story take such an odd turn if just to throw a monkey wrench in the plot’s “Maylene shags the next jock on her property” developments. The arrest of Maylene and the discovery of the gems, with Katz and the gardener winding up together for the final shag of the film, it all kind of just ends. I think the finale follows the same beats of the rather blah premise…how do we string along Maylene and Katz sex scenes with the men of the cast, while the former is put in her place, the latter is able to leave the film with a happy ending. The guys have always been moving parts in the plot as the women are showcased as the alluring attraction. This film is no different.
