as bad as some of the acting is, as unbelievable as a cast of 30 / 40 year olds playing high school students is and as unoriginal as the premise is, this is actually one of the better 80s slasher flicks in my humble opinion.
--Cap'n of The Bloody Pit of Horror in regards to Slaughter High.

I think you contributed to j's feelings about slashers as a whole when so many criticisms towards a film you actually consider one of the better.

After watching Student Bodies, I had Slaughter High on the mind as an up and coming film to review for my blog, and when I came upon Cap'n' s review for it, it will now be of a certainty that the movie will show up at some point during the week. Maybe tomorrow. I was just majorly surprised of Cujo. It far exceeding my expectations after quite a distance since I last watched it back about 1994. It is kind of like Christine. I had watched it after a lengthy absence and was pleasantly surprised of its quality when I revisited it in the early 2000s. I love it when films you remember being good turn out even better. I think Cujo was a great example of taking a simple idea and really wringing as much out of it as possible. Slaughter High seems perfectly suitable alongside Student Bodies, but that particular day I was too busy. I think the wait will be better as I can really take a brand new look at Slaughter High since I own the "cheesy films" release of the dvd.
