Supernatural - Wendigo Revisit

While Jessica's murder remains quite important to Sam, and the pursuit of Sam and Dean's father is significant to them as well, the Winchester brothers use their dad's diary as sort of a possible road map to find him. "Supernatural" is definitely a fun alternative to "The X Files" even as the two share certain similarities. However, "Supernatural" certainly splinters off from "The X Files" in terms of their focus on God, Lucifer, demons, and angels, etc. "Wendigo" really feels like an X-Files episode, though. Venturing into the Colorado Blackwater Ridge, Sam and Dean looking to see if their dad was possibly out there, researching his diary, realizing that the creature that could be snatching folks and killing them is a Wendigo, a cannibal having eaten from different types of people for so long it has developed the ability to move fast, barely be visible in the light, grab you immediately, claw you, keep some of you in a dark mine for future feeding during hibernation periods. Ben and Haley want to find their brother, Tommy, who is held captive in a mine. I hadn't realized I watched my first episodes of Supernatural as late as 2018. Four years, that just seems insane. Nonetheless, this episode is a good example of the Sam and Dean adventures. You can't shoot or stab a Wendigo, but you can burn it. The boys have learned a lot from their missing father who is on a mission all his own. You sort of get the point from this episode early in the series that they will help people while looking for their father and the supernatural killer of Jessica. Their search will bring them into quite a lot of danger, but being equipped with their dad's diary will provide answers they need and clues to follow. The Wendigo of the episode is your Monster of the Week. You have the framework of the brothers searching for where their father is, encountering different people along the way. The tools and knowledge are somewhat available.
