Jessica Jones - God Help the Hobo

Pryce is a major adversary JJ won't just beat up and get rid of. Even if Jeri will not help him go after her legally, Pryce refuses to remain her victim. Even if he must try and hire Malcolm or send a thief on his payroll in to burgle Jessica's office, costing the unfortunate employee his life when the superhuman JJ is after surprises him in the back of a van, slaughtering him. While Jeri is looking for alternative treatments or medicinal methods to inevitably end her life before ALS can take her brain from her, Jessica is looking for dirt on her firm partners as leverage. Trish must persuade the media that Malcolm is not some secret lover, that her and Griffin are still an item. Malcolm, meanwhile, confronts Jessica about what he deserves in their PI partnership, for which she shockingly agrees. Jessica, in this episode like others, battles her inner demons and grouses about with brooding hostility and guilt, unable to recover from what happened to her family and the whole experience with Kilgrave. An anger management class where those with addiction and emotional issues speak about their experiences while tossing a red ball against a wall can't anticipate what will happen to it when Jessica frees her own rage while cooperating...she gets a court doc signed by the counselor about attending the class immediately! Onward she goes, Trish driving, heading off to get Max, a television industry big shot who likes to sleep with his teenage underage girl stars, to secure IGH hospital docs in the mission to locate the superhuman Jessica encountered in the previous episode. Instead they find, thanks to a wig store owner who knew Trish from her industry days as an "entitled brat" with some Benjamins offered for the information and a hobo who leads them to a building condemned, a nurse detailing a horror story involving the superhuman who killed her college and hurled her across the hospital room. And Jessica's issues with Oscar appear resolved when she saves his son from falling out her window...they even share a drink and almost a little something--something more on her couch before he cools it off because everything was happening too fast. Jessica continues her journey of discovery, chipping away at IGH and what kind of "monsters" (or "gifted" human experiments as Jess sometimes concedes herself as to try and differentiate from the superhero label Oscar's excited son often glowingly refers to her as) they were/are responsible for. This mystery superhuman woman ripping folks apart and as strong as she is remains a compelling draw episode to episode. Jessica having to convince the authorities she's not the killer of Pryce's employee in the van is also a nice hook for the next episode. Trish's beau hiding a secret, on the phone with someone, all hush-hush, throws cold water on Griffin's status as a positive part of her life.
