  1. Those pics remind me of my youth. I think I rented out every single horror video in my hometown when I was a kid! Hey, and if you have a few free minutes sometime this week, see if you can cast some Orlok votes. I know seth's needing more for some of the years. :)

  2. Damn, I keep forgetting that!

I had like 7 in my hometown around 89 when I was like 12! It was really neat to just go from store to store to see if you can find that movie you so wanted to see. Them were the days.

  3. We had probably around half a dozen and I was from a small, small town. I also remember most gas stations in the area rented them back in the day. One of my fondest childhood memories was walking a couple of miles to a gas station that rented. We'd get like 10 at a time and a bunch of junk food and then spend the entire weekend watching them. The people there didn't care what we got, so here you had a couple of 3rd graders renting stuff like Faces of Death and Make Them Die Slowly. I guess my mind was warped right then and there. lol

  4. Oh, my uncle had a whole cache of VHS tapes where he recorded all kinds of cult films off of HBO and satellite channels. That along with the numerous rental stores around town provided plenty of "warped entertainment" for me to take in fondly. My mom was concerned about me but I didn't turn out to be a serial killer or some monster. I am just a guy who loves horror and the like. There was this appliance store that only rented movies on the side but that place was a haven of VHS to me. Their old releases were a dollar a piece and I would do chores for my grandmother for something like five bucks and then go rent movies after leaving her house on Saturdays. Off to the appliance store to rent The Dead Pit, Dawn of the Dead, Deep StarSix, or Predator. Ah, yes, good times.
