Twilight Zone - Perchance to Dream / Additional

The more I watch this episode, the more I like it. This seems to hang around in my mind afterward. That's what I consider a big deal: to not just vanish and go away immediately, sort of lounging a bit, the visual power and sinister score really enhance the experience. It's crazy that the writer of the episode died at 38, Charles Beaumont. Tragic, really. The twist of pretty much everything we watch being a dream, with even Conte talking to his shrink created by the mind deep in sleep, dreams recreated within the dream seemed so ahead of its time. Beaumont was onto something. Maya being this nightmare specter looking to kill Conte, seductive as if death was wearing an alluring disguise, preying on him through her sultry veneer provides meat on the bone...this isn't just impressive visual design and haunting score. This has it all, including the tragic ending. How often I have heard a preferable way to go is in your sleep... Conte's neurotic might have something to say about that. He might dispute it!
