Just Leave his Gold Alone

I have included a link to my lengthy review (although quite undeserved) for Leprechaun (1993):Review

Currently HBO and it's premium channels are showing the Lep series and I need my head examined but I'm watching the first three for the hell of it. They are awful, but I love Warwick Davis even if these films are such a far cry from Willow. These films do get plenty of airplay and I'm sure besides popularity during the era of physical media, streaming will be another avenue for the series to continue on into the forseeable future. This was on cable and a lot in the 90s and readily available at rental stores where the series got it's best exposure. How it warranted so many sequels and why Davis agreed to do so many is baffling. It is really, truly about absurd setpieces, outrageous leprechaun supernatural sight gags, and Davis in hideous makeup quipping with relish. They even include a four leaf clover as a weapon against him, that a rainbow leads to his gold, that his gold strengthens his power and he knows if he's shortchanged, that he can talk in different voices and replace his gouged eye by removing a dead cop's, take shotgun blasts, and came from Ireland originally. The cast is a who's who of 80s B-films and comedies...granted, this was probably not exactly a high mark for any of them!
