Game of Thrones - Winter is Coming **

* * * * / * * * *
Okay, so my friends and I had a good laugh because of mybrevelamy rto them of this novel of notes I had after revisting Game of Thrones, the first episode. Previously I already have written about it, but all of this kept beckoning me. Admittedly my blog has fallen on hard times lately after a strong start to the year but nonetheless I trek on...

Just a smorgasbord of bits and pieces. I have a friend of mine who agreed to watch the show along with me. It gives us some topical conversation to ward off the tedium.

"A madman sees what he sees"
  • Bran must watch as Ned lops off the head of a "deserter of the night watch".
"Law is law"
  • You must not leave Night Watch under any circumstances. If you do, execution is the result.
When the Starks depart after Arya shows up Bran with her bow/arrow skills...
  • Lady Cat looks at Jon Snow in repulsion. The first episode doesn't necessarily elaborate too much on Jon's status
Members of the Night Watch investigate behavior of wildings outside the wall, finding White Walkers instead. And....they die.

A mother direwolf found dead "south of the wall", where it shouldn't be, has five "pups", Jon realizing as each of the Stark children are represented. Sigil of the house, Ned tells his boys they will raise them and bury them if they die. There was a white "runt of the litter" which Jon will take as his own.

Ned is Lord over Winterfell. Kings Landing is Capital of the seven kingdoms.

The Hand of the King died and Jaime and sister Cersei's father is to be the new Hand of the King. Cersie is married to the king, Baratheon.
  • Lord Arryn was a mentor to Ned, the courier Raven reporting his death to Cat at Winterfell. The king is expected to ask Ned to be his Hand. Meanwhile those from Kings Landing are traveling to Winterfell, including all Lannisters.
There's a heavy emphasis on Bran and his climbing, his adventurous and inquisitive nature.

"Where's the imp?"
  • Tyrion Lannister is small in stature but witty, brilliant, sarcastic, tactical, and sharp. Arya Stark, who is always asking where Tyrion is, is a tomboy, preferring to be a warrior than lady to some nobleman.
The son of Cersei (and brother, Jaime, yuck, the king believing he's his), Joffrey, eyes Sansa as his future wife.

"You helped me win the iron throne so help me keep the damn thing".
  • It appears Arryn might have met with foul play, and the king needs someone he can trust, Ned. The king would have wed Ned's sister, buried in a crypt with statue to commemorate her. The Targaryens are responsible, but Ned helped to drive them out of Kings Landing.

Tyrion takes to the whorehouse while his adversarial relationship with Cersei is established in a brief dialogue with her twin, Jaime.

The Targaryens still have brother and sister looking to reclaim Kings Landing. Daenerys is to wed King of the warrior race, Dothraki. Viserys, Daenerys' brother, insists she marry with the Dothraki in order to benefit from their army. Khal Drogo is who Daenerys is to wed, although she isn't truly interested. This is a necessity, although it is the sex she fears. His physicality is intimidating to her.

"All dwarves are bastards in their father's eyes."

While Viserys would be willing to whore his sister out to gain military advantage, Jon wants Uncle Benjen to take him with him to the Night's Watch. Cat hates him and he's seen as a bastard anyway, so he wants away from it. Tyrion, understanding how it feels to be frowned upon, tells Jon to wear it as armor so it won't hurt him.

"A Dothraki wedding without at least three deaths is considered a dull affair."
  • While Daenerys sits beside her future husband during their "wedding ceremony", the savages fight over who can bang an available Dothraki woman, blood she'd before Khal Drogo ordinary, his delight of particular violence troubling to her.
Arryn's wife sends word to her sister, Cat, that the Lannisters murdered him. Ned realizes the king is in trouble.

"The things I do for love."
  • While the "new khaleesi" must give her body, albeit reluctantly, Bran unfortunately climbs up a building wall, finding Jaime and Cersei during coitus. Jaime pushes Bran out the opening at Cersei's urging!
Daenerys receives the dragon eggs, her iconic white horse, and literature about the seven kingdoms from Jorah Mormont, having served for her father in the past. Her tears when alone with Drogo weren't enough to keep her from being raped by him. Ugh. The Narrow Sea which separates her from the throne is given an establishing shot at the end...her rape by Drogo a possible sacrifice to get it back.
What if the Lannisters didn't come with Robert Baratheon? Nine years since "fat" Robert and Ned last seen each other.

Robert openly flaunted his adulterous ways in front of Cersei during the Winterfell welcoming celebration, with Cat uncomfortably next to her trying to remain cordial and hospitable. Sansa walking over to impress Cersei, she receives a question about her age and if she has "bled yet"!
